Basketball Recap: Highland Starts Season with Win Against Tucson High Magnet School

Highland took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They claimed a resounding 68-36 win over the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers. The Hawks pushed the score to 54-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Badgers had little chance of recovering from.

Bailey Williams went supernova, shooting 56% from the field on her way to 23 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Peyton Jacobsen, who went 7-for-14 en route to 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Highland was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Tucson High Magnet School dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Highland will venture away from home to take on Apollo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mesa at 7:00 p.m. on December 3.
