Soccer Game Preview: Village Christian vs. Whittier Christian

Village Christian hasn't had much luck against Whittier Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Village Christian Crusaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Whittier Christian Heralds at 3:00 p.m.

Village Christian is headed into Thursday's following a draw, the team's first since December 12. Neither they nor Heritage Christian could gain the upper hand on Tuesday so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw. The outcome might've been different if Gaby Robel hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited her ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

Natalie Ghanbari and Leilani Paz scored both of Village Christian's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Meanwhile, Whittier Christian managed to keep up with Valley Christian until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Whittier Christian lost 4-0 to Valley Christian. Having soared to a lofty ten goals in the game before, the Heralds' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Village Christian's draw makes their record 5-2-2 this season. As for Whittier Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-3.

Village Christian might still be hurting after the 10-1 defeat they got from Whittier Christian when the teams last played two weeks ago. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Village Christian was down 3-0.
