Basketball Recap: Kearny Komets vs. Christian Patriots
Kearny was the 62-39 winner over Christian when they last played one another back in February of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. The Kearny Komets were beaten by the Christian Patriots 85-29 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Komets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 882nd, while the Patriots are ranked 214th).
Despite the loss, Kearny still got an impressive performance from Samarah Estrada, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmalynn Grisham, who put up seven points and seven boards.
Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leah Speers, who had 20 points along with eight steals and five assists. Speers' evening made it nine games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.
