Soccer Game Preview: Sweetwater vs. Hilltop

Sweetwater is 1-9 against Hilltop since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Sweetwater Red Devils will host the Hilltop Lancers at 6:00 p.m.

Sweetwater is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Southwest SD, falling 5-2. The game was a 2-2 toss-up at halftime, but the Red Devils couldn't quite close it out.

Alexi Montoya and Natalie Angel scored both of Sweetwater's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 19 goals.

Meanwhile, Hilltop entered their tilt with Olympian on Monday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Eagles onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Give the Lancers' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Hilltop has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those nine matches. As for Sweetwater, they now have a losing record at 8-9-1.
