Basketball Recap: Golden Valley Comes Up Short

Golden Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 57-22 defeat at the hands of the Saugus Centurions. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 662nd, while the Centurions are ranked 188th).

Golden Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Krysta Ezenwa and Jaia Bryant. Ezenwa dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds, while Bryant posted five points. That was a full 54.5% of Golden Valley's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Golden Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Saugus, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

Golden Valley has already played their next contest, a 56-23 defeat against Valencia on the 3rd. As for Saugus, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-25 loss against La Salle on the 1st.
