Baseball Recap: Basalt Has No Trouble Against Moffat County

Basalt got themselves on the board against Moffat County on Wednesday, but Moffat County never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over the Moffat County Bulldogs. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Longhorns yet this season.

Karson Schneider made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Schneider was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kody Barton was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Owen Lindt was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Basalt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moffat County only posted an OBP of .250.

Basalt's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-1.
