Football Game Preview: Stafford Spartans vs. Navasota Rattlers + Official Tickets

The Stafford Spartans will face off against the Navasota Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Stafford took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down Fort Bend Willowridge 42-27. The win was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

A big part of Stafford's victory came down to the chemistry between Nate Ray and his top target Aiden Seales. Ray threw for 195 yards and five TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes while Seales gained 121 total yards and three touchdowns. Ray's passing game has become a key predictor of Stafford's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise.

Stafford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 223 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Stafford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jabrion Sonnier and Jeremiah Mc Williams. Sonnier is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last eight games he's played dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Navasota beat Needville 42-35 on Friday.

Stafford picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Navasota, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Everything went Stafford's way against Navasota in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Stafford made off with a 28-7 win. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rattlers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
