Basketball Recap: Sweetwater Takes a Loss

Sweetwater played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 50-25 to the Southwest SD Raiders. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-17 back in January.

Jaslene Nixon was Sweetwater's leading scorer, having posted eight points.

Southwest SD's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pilar Carrera, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Natalie Kim-Cardenas, who put up eight points.

Sweetwater has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Southwest SD, they pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Sweetwater will be playing in front of their home fans against Castle Park at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Southwest SD, they are taking a road trip to take on Tri-City Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tri-City Christian will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Southwest SD surely won't give up without a fight.
