Volleyball Preview: Westview Knights vs. Cactus Cobras
The Westview Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Cactus Cobras at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Westview is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Westview lost 3-0 to Estrella Foothills on Wednesday. The Knights have struggled against the Wolves recently, as their game on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-12.
Meanwhile, Cactus entered their tilt with Deer Valley on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged the Skyhawks out 3-2.
Cactus wouldn't go down easily and took Deer Valley into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-15, 12-25, 25-17, 15-11.
Cactus can attribute much of their success to Mya John, who had eight digs and three aces, and Brooke Wolek, who had six digs and two aces. That's the most aces John has posted since back in September.
Cactus was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in eight consecutive games.
Westview's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Cactus, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.
