The Montgomery Aztecs will square off against the San Ysidro Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Montgomery turned things around against Eastlake on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Titans 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Aztecs have posted since March 24th.

Erick Ramos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has become a key player for Montgomery: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-11 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Montgomery saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AJ Ruvalcaba, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, San Ysidro hadn't done well against Bonita Vista recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cougars came out on top against the Barons by a score of 8-4. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Barons on their field since May 5, 2017.
Armann Robles was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Emiliano Diaz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
San Ysidro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bonita Vista only posted an OBP of .344.
Montgomery's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-13. As for San Ysidro, their victory bumped their record up to 14-9.
Everything went Montgomery's way against San Ysidro in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as Montgomery made off with a 7-1 win. Do the Aztecs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
