Basketball Game Preview: Vasquez Mustangs vs. Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals

The Vasquez Mustangs will challenge the Santa Clarita Christian Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Vasquez is coming into the game on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They secured a 28-23 W over Lancaster Baptist on Friday.

Meanwhile, Santa Clarita Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They walked away with a 29-21 victory over the Griffins.

Santa Clarita Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points per game. As for Vasquez, their win bumped their record up to 2-7.

Everything went Vasquez's way against Santa Clarita Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as Vasquez made off with a 60-36 victory. Will Vasquez repeat their success, or does Santa Clarita Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
