Basketball Recap: Orland Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cloverdale

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Orland had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They snuck past the Cloverdale Eagles with a 65-61 win. The Trojans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Orland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lillianna Rowe led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Dottie Davis, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

Despite the loss, Cloverdale still got an impressive performance from Amara Galvan, who had 31 points and five boards. Galvan's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Ronni Hatcher was another key player, putting up nine points and eight rebounds.

Orland is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season. This is the second loss in a row for Cloverdale and nudges their season record down to 14-14.

Coming up, Orland will head out on the road to square off against Encinal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Encinal has won seven straight at home, while Orland won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Cloverdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
