While Viewpoint's victory against Golden Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Grizzlies 46-43. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won three in a row.

Despite the loss, Golden Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brighton Blythe went 10-for-20 to rack up 23 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The Grizzlies are 3-1 when Blythe posts three or more steals, but 2-3 otherwise. Morgan Mendenhall was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Viewpoint's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Golden Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Coming up, Viewpoint will head out to challenge Notre Dame Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Golden Valley, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Fillmore at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Blythe and Yaneli Landin.
