Softball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Papillion-Lavista South's Winning Streak

If Papillion-LaVista South was riding high fresh off their 13-4 takedown of Bellevue West on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Titans took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Norfolk Panthers on Wednesday. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2017.

Emersyn Exner and Chyler Hoke did some serious damage despite the final result: Exner went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Hoke went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ysa Rodriguez, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Papillion-LaVista South moved to 15-13 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Norfolk, their win bumped their record up to 16-20.

Papillion-LaVista South wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 15-1 victory against South Sioux City on the 8th. As for Norfolk, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lincoln Southwest at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Silver Hawks have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
