Volleyball Preview: Manzano Monarchs vs. Sandia Matadors
Manzano is 2-8 against Sandia since October of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Monarchs will head out to square off against the Matadors at 5:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Manzano came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to Santa Fe.
While Manzano was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Santa Fe's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-17, 25-18.
Meanwhile, Sandia came up short against Capital on Tuesday and fell 3-1. While the Matadors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Jaguars 25-18 in the first set.
Sandia started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-20.
