Basketball Recap: Rio Vista Drops Season-High Score on Johnson

Johnson kept up with Rio Vista until halftime on Friday, but afterwards: not so much. The Rams put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 59-36 victory. The Rams' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Rio Vista to victory were Makyla Mandujano and Samiah Holley. Mandujano dropped a double-double with 29 points and ten steals, while Holley dropped a triple-double with 24 points, ten boards, and 12 steals. Holley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last 32 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Lauren Bledsoe, who posted six rebounds and three steals.

Rio Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 20 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Rio Vista moved to 2-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Johnson, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
