Basketball Game Preview: Linfield Christian Lions vs. Elsinore Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Linfield Christian Lions take on the Elsinore Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday... Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Monday, Linfield Christian lost to Hemet on the road by a 67-50 margin.

Despite the defeat, Linfield Christian had strong showings from Charli Calas, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 boards, and Auti Cabrera, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 11 points. Calas is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Zaruka, who posted six points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Elsinore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 74-39 loss at the hands of Chaparral. The Tigers were down 70-29 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Linfield Christian will have to contain Ashirah Williams as she made an impact in Elsinore's last game. She went 5 of 10 on her way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayce Mccoy, who put up eight points.

Linfield Christian dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Elsinore, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Linfield Christian has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Elsinore struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
