Volleyball Recap: Grand Island Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Lilly Goodwin and Alexa Sackschewsky

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Grand Island and Lincoln Northeast, and Lincoln Northeast kept the tradition alive. The Islanders came up short against the Rockets on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Islanders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rockets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-18.

Despite the defeat, Grand Island had strong showings from Alexa Sackschewsky, who had ten assists and six digs, and Lilly Goodwin, who had nine digs. Jenina Silva also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Lincoln Northeast found their leader in sophomore Addy Murrell, who had five digs and two aces. Murrell has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Grand Island has been struggling recently as they've lost 17 of their last 20 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season. As for Lincoln Northeast, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-18.
