Basketball Game Preview: Phoenixville Phantoms vs. Methacton Warriors

Phoenixville is 2-8 against Methacton since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Phoenixville Phantoms will head out to take on the Methacton Warriors at 6:45 p.m.

Last Wednesday, Phoenixville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-43 to Spring-Ford. While losing is never fun, the Phantoms can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Rams are ranked 104th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Methacton). They breezed by Dock Mennonite to the tune of 72-36 on Saturday. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 23 points or more this season.

The victory (which was Methacton's third in a row) raised their record to 11-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Phoenixville, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8.

Phoenixville barely slipped by Methacton in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 47-46. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Methacton's Abby Arnold, who went 5 of 10 en route to 19 points and seven rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Phoenixville still be able to contain Arnold? There's only one way to find out.
