Basketball Recap: Turlock Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Faith Hayes and Christiana Eivaz

Turlock Christian fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Millennium on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 36-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Millennium Falcons. The Eagles' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Turlock Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Christiana Eivaz, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards, and Faith Hayes, who posted eight points and 14 rebounds. Hayes is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Claire Betts was another key player, putting up six points.

Millennium found their leader in freshman Gianna Negrete, who scored 20 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Negrete also posted four blocks, which is notable because Millennium is 7-1 when she posts at least three blocks, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Sarah Digiallonardo, who had seven points and 13 boards.

Turlock Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Millennium, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

Turlock Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 34-28 loss against Foresthill on the 18th. As for Millennium, they have also already played their next match, a 51-49 defeat against Fortune Early College on the 18th.
