Baseball Game Preview: Paideia Pythons vs. Landmark Christian War Eagles

Paideia hasn't had much luck against Landmark Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Paideia Pythons will be playing at home against the Landmark Christian War Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Paideia has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Paideia lost 19-4 to Druid Hills on Saturday. The Pythons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Landmark Christian beat King's Ridge Christian 7-4 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the War Eagles.

Taylor Casson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Landmark Christian is undefeated when Casson posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Niles Redrick, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Landmark Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't).

Landmark Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Landmark Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Paideia, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
