Soccer Game Preview: Milpitas vs. Monta Vista

The Milpitas Trojans will challenge the Monta Vista Matadors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monta Vista took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Milpitas, who comes in off a win.

Milpitas' defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Wilcox by a score of 2-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Trojans were the better team in the second half.

Kayli Wong and Marissa Agraz scored both of Milpitas' goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Meanwhile, Monta Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Fremont, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 867th, while the Firebirds are ranked 334th).

Monta Vista's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Milpitas, they now have a winning record of 8-7-1.

Milpitas beat Monta Vista 3-1 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Milpitas repeat their success, or does Monta Vista have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
