Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Spartans vs. Leechburg Blue Devils
The St. Joseph Spartans waltzed into their matchup on Monday with 11 straight wins but they left with 12. They blew past Leechburg 79-11 at home. St. Joseph has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 25 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Joseph to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julie Spinelli, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine steals. Spinelli hasn't dropped below 15 points for 13 straight games. Anna Kreinbrook was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds.
St. Joseph pushed their record up to 17-2 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Leechburg, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Coincidentally, St. Joseph and the Blue Devils will both be playing the Jayhawks the next time they take the court. St. Joseph will head out to face the Jayhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Blue Devils will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
