Basketball Game Preview: El Camino Eagles vs. Woodland Wolves

The El Camino Eagles will take on the Woodland Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

El Camino easily dispatched Dixon on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. El Camino fell just short of Rosemont by a score of 51-49 on Wednesday.

Despite the loss, El Camino saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Calista Wold dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Wold is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Marissa Stevenson, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, El Camino was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Woodland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 68-17 loss at the hands of Woodland Christian. The Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-9.

El Camino now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Woodland, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

El Camino beat Woodland 43-32 in their previous meeting back in December of 2018. Will El Camino repeat their success, or does Woodland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
