Soccer Game Preview: Del Lago Academy vs. Coastal Academy

The Del Lago Academy Firebirds will face off against the Coastal Academy Stingrays at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Del Lago Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

On Wednesday, Del Lago Academy got the win against Guajome Park Academy by a conclusive 4-1. Considering the Firebirds' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Coastal Academy was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They came up short against Tri-City Christian, falling 7-1. While losing is never fun, the Stingrays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 802nd, while the Eagles are ranked 361st).

Coastal Academy's goal came courtesy of Ella Anderson, who's now up to five this season.

Del Lago Academy pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. As for Coastal Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Del Lago Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Coastal Academy in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Del Lago Academy since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
