Basketball Game Preview: Foothill Trojans vs. Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears

The Foothill Trojans and the Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Foothill will head into Friday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 20) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past West 37-35.

Foothill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raven Placheta led the charge by putting up four points and four steals. Placheta has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Bella Fierro was another key player, posting four points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Summit Charter Collegiate Academy entered their tilt with South on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Spartans 50-30. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Foothill better keep an eye on Camille Cruz. She was instrumental in Summit Charter Collegiate Academy's win, putting up 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evonie Mendoza, who posted ten points.

Summit Charter Collegiate Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.9 points per game. As for Foothill, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

Everything came up roses for Foothill against Summit Charter Collegiate Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2018, as the team secured a 39-12 win.
