The Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Rome Wolves at 5:55 p.m. on Friday. Kennesaw Mountain will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
While Kennesaw Mountain didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 15-4 margin over Lithia Springs on Wednesday. Considering the Mustangs have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Daniel Fore looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits.

On the hitting side, Kennesaw Mountain let George Lutz and Isander Poventud run wild. Lutz scored three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Poventud went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. The dominant performance also gave Lutz a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Jake Phelps, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Kennesaw Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Rome came up short against South Paulding on Wednesday, falling 12-2. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Rome saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Costlow, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was Costlow's first of the season.
Kennesaw Mountain pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13 runs. As for Rome, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Rome's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kennesaw Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .518. It's a different story for Rome, though, as they've only averaged .329. Will they be able to contain Kennesaw Mountain's hitters?
Kennesaw Mountain couldn't quite finish off Rome in their previous meeting back in March of 2017 and fell 7-5. Can Kennesaw Mountain avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
