Basketball Recap: Mountain View's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Mountain View lost against Marana back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Mountain Lions took a 51-37 bruising from the Tigers. The matchup marked the Mountain Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Mountain View's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Armando Santacruz, who posted 13 points. Daniel Anumba was another key player, putting up six points and 12 boards.

Leading Marana to victory were Zachary Evenson and Madix Young. EvEnson went 5-for-12 en route to 18 points, while Young shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points and seven rebounds. Those seven boards gave Young a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sean Roebuck, who put up seven points and six rebounds.

With the loss, Mountain View broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3. As for Marana, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain View will take on Cienega at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marana, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Maricopa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 67.57 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
