Basketball Game Preview: Frankford Pioneers vs. Northeast Vikings

Frankford hasn't had much luck against Northeast recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Frankford Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Northeast Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Frankford's defense has only allowed 27.2 points per game this season, so Northeast's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Frankford is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 61-31 win over Motivation. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Janeliss Laboy continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 for 19 en route to 19 points along with eight boards and seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Raif, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Northeast played a tough contest on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Central and fell 48-21. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-3.

Frankford's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.3 points per game. As for Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Frankford came up short against Northeast when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 31-24. Can Frankford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
