Football Recap: Asheville Starts Season with Win at Home + How To Watch

Asheville gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They snuck past the East Rutherford Cavaliers with a 40-36 victory.

Leading Asheville to victory were Clement Davidson and Tay Williams. Davidson rushed for 226 yards and two scores while picking up 14.1 yards per carry, while Williams threw for 169 yards and one touchdown while completing 81.8% of his passes. Those 226 rushing yards gave Davidson a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why East Rutherford lost, don't look at Brandon Pinkerton. Despite the final result, he rushed for 254 yards and four TDs while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 37 receiving yards.

Asheville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 21-7 defeat against Dobyns-Bennett on the 29th. As for East Rutherford, they have also already played their next match, a 41-6 win against Blacksburg on the 29th.
