Soccer Recap: Downey Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Downey Vikings didn't have quite enough to beat the Cerritos Dons and fell 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Vikings came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Dons are ranked 647th).

Downey's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11-2. As for Cerritos, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-9.

Downey will venture away from home to square off against Mayfair at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cerritos, they are taking a road trip to take on Pioneer at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
