Baseball Recap: Richland County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine on Monday, Richland County came back down to earth. The Tigers came up short against the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes on Tuesday, falling 12-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 13-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Richland County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Hires, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Richland County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Teutopolis, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richland County will welcome Edwards County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Teutopolis, they will square off against Flora at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
