Independence was the 54-30 winner over Foothill when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcons took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans on Wednesday.

When it comes to explaining why Independence lost, don't look at Ka'Rayah Robertson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards. Robertson has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. Trinitee Wright also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Foothill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabel Garza, who posted 20 points. That's the most points Garza has posted since back in December of 2024. Marihya Portis was another key player, putting up seven points and five steals.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Foothill, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.

Independence has already played their next contest (against Delano), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Foothill, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Mira Monte at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026. This will be the Trojans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
