Basketball Recap: Melina Gracia Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Foothill

There's no place like home for Arvin, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 41-32 victory over the Foothill Trojans on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.

Arvin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Melina Gracia led the charge by going 6-for-12 to rack up 14 points and five steals. What's more, Gracia also posted a 50% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Mariana Soto was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayda Green, who posted six points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Green has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Raven Placheta, who scored ten points.

Arvin's record now sits at 12-13. As for Foothill, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9.

Arvin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 36-34 victory against Mira Monte on the 7th. As for Foothill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 34-20 defeat against Golden Valley on the 7th.
