Basketball Recap: Troy Comes Up Short

Troy and Mount Carmel squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Troy had to settle for second. They took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Trojans came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the RED TORNADOES are ranked 235th).

When it comes to explaining why Troy lost, don't look at Kailyn Sterling. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Sterling is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game.

Troy's defeat dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Mount Carmel, their victory bumped their record up to 11-12.
