Baseball Recap: Thompson Extends Winning Streak to Three

Thompson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Hillsboro/Central Valley Valiants. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Tommies have posted against the Valiants since May 5, 2025.

RJ Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Eli Gemmill was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Thompson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Thompson's record is now 17-7. As for Hillsboro/Central Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Thompson will be taking part in a tournament against Bottineau at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hillsboro/Central Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
