Baseball Recap: Crisp Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Crisp Academy's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They never let the Byne Christian Saints get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Wyatt Youngblood made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Crisp Academy's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 3-10 when he doesn't). Youngblood was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reese Reed, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Crisp Academy is 3-1 when Reed posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Wilk Stevens, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Crisp Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Byne Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Crisp Academy will head out to square off against Grace Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Byne Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Community Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m.
