Recap: Hilmar Yellowjackets vs. Sonora Wildcats
After flying high against the Golden Valley Cougars last Tuesday, the Hilmar Yellowjackets came back down to earth. Hilmar fell to Sonora 39-34. Hilmar found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 17 to 5 on offense.
Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alicia Souza, who scored 13 points along with 9 rebounds. Souza scored a full 38.2% of Hilmar's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Emma Gomes , who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
Sonora's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Faught, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Ahrens, who scored 7 points along with 15 rebounds.
Hilmar's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Sonora, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Hilmar will face off against Modesto at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sonora, they will head out on the road to face off against Oakdale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
