Soccer Recap: Oakland Tech's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Oakland Tech and Ripon Christian squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Oakland Tech had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Ripon Christian Knights by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Knights are ranked 387th).

The loss snapped Oakland Tech's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 14-4 record. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five games. As for Ripon Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-8.

Oakland Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ripon Christian, they will challenge Lowell at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lowell will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Ripon Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
