On Thursday, Salinas was able to grind out a solid victory over Monterey, taking the game 48-38. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Dores are ranked 796th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Salinas' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Alice Uchida, who posted 13 points, and Andrea Nava, who put up 13 points. Mikayla Nicks was another key player, putting up seven points.

Salinas is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game.
