Basketball Recap: Southwestern Academy Takes a Loss

Southwestern Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 60-6 defeat at the hands of the St. Monica Academy Crusaders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sun of the 66-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2015.

Despite the loss, Southwestern Academy still got an impressive performance from Valza Jusufi, who posted four points in addition to 14 boards and four blocks. Jusufi has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 20 times she's played.

Southwestern Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for St. Monica Academy, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-4.

Southwestern Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 34-15 loss against SEED: LA on the 9th. As for St. Monica Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-16 victory against Glendale Adventist on the 9th.
