Thoreau had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 52-point drubbing they dealt Shiprock on Friday. The Hawks claimed a resounding 52-0 win over the Chieftains. The matchup marked the Hawks' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Thoreau can attribute much of their success to Aiden Woody, who threw for 166 yards and three TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Woody a new career-high in passer rating (157.9). Elyjah Becenti got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win (which was Thoreau's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.0 points on average over those games. As for Shiprock, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.
