Football Recap: Lark Anderson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Blue Valley North over St. James Academy + How To Watch

Blue Valley North extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-4. They fell 28-20 to the St. James Academy Thunder. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Thunder are ranked fifth).

Blue Valley North lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lark Anderson, who threw for 342 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 80.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 55 yards. Colton Nichols also helped out as he racked up 151 receiving yards.

As for St. James Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.0 points over those games.

John Hornback produced another solid effort rushing for 162 yards and two scores on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 55 yards and one touchdown. Those 162 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Coming up, Blue Valley North will head out to square off against Bishop Miege at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. James Academy, they will be playing at home against Kapaun Mt. Carmel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders' defense has only allowed 13.7 points per game this season, so the Thunder's offense will have their work cut out for them.
