Recap: McGuffey Highlanders vs. Yough Cougars
The McGuffey Highlanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 27-26 to Yough. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points McGuffey has scored all season.
Several Highlanders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Gaso, who scored five points along with two steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Ewig, who scored five points along with three steals.
McGuffey struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
McGuffey has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season. As for Yough, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10.
McGuffey will challenge Charleroi at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully McGuffey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Monday. Yough does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
