Basketball Recap: Lyons Sets Scoring Season-High Against Denver Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lyons). They blew past the Denver Academy Mustangs 89-51 on Friday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Zeke Paznokas had an outrageously good game as he went 6 for 15 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zack LaCrosse, who went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points.

Lyons smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Lyons' win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Denver Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lyons will square off against Flatirons Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flatirons Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Lyons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Denver Academy, they will face off against Estes Park at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th.
