Valentine dropped down to 4-5 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They were dealt a 42-12 loss at the hands of the Kearney Catholic Stars. Having soared to a lofty 44 points in the game before, Valentine couldn't push the score so high this time.

When it comes to explaining why Valentine lost, don't look at Parker Chavez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 63 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 61 receiving yards and one score.

As for Kearney Catholic, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.3 points on average this season.

Kearney Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacob Bosshamer, who threw for 203 yards and five TDs. That's the most passing touchdowns Bosshamer has posted since back in October of 2024. Kearney Catholic's leading receiver Atreyu May was Bosshamer's top target yet again, picking up 101 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Valentine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kearney Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Boone Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
