Football Game Preview: West Elk Patriots vs. Northeast Vikings

The West Elk Patriots will face off against the Northeast Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Elk hasn't scored more than 12 points for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

On Friday, West Elk took a blow against Sedan, falling 56-12.

Despite the loss, West Elk saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ryatt Griesel rushed for 73 yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Northeast played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Oswego and fell 74-28. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost four in a row.

Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for West Elk, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for West Elk against Northeast in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 66-8 win. In that game, the Patriots amassed a halftime lead of 66-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
