Football Game Preview: Broome Centurions vs. Union County Yellowjackets + Official Tickets

The Broome Centurions will head out on the road to square off against the Union County Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Broome has given up an average of 39.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Broome is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Woodruff on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Centurions were dealt a 49-14 defeat at the hands of the Wolverines. While losing is never fun, the Centurions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Wolverines are ranked 31st).

Although Broome took the loss, they still got scores from Tyqwon Booker and Brayden Simpson.

Even if they lost, Broome's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Union County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Mountain View Prep, falling 64-14. The Yellowjackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-14.

Broome will have to keep a close watch on Qa Brannon and Shiro Crosby, a pair of players who had a big impact on Union County's prior game. Brannon rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown, while Crosby rushed for 84 yards on only seven carries. Crosby really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run.

Broome now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Union County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Broome came up short against Union County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 28-22. Can the Centurions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
