Basketball Recap: Krysta Ezenwa Key Part of a Team Effort in Grizzlies Win

Golden Valley's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They secured a 34-29 W over the West Ranch Wildcats. For the Grizzlies, this counts as revenge for the 63-39 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Golden Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Krysta Ezenwa, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 22 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Ezenwa has scored at least a third of Golden Valley's points. Jaia Bryant was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight boards.

Golden Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 2.3 assists per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 6.5.

Golden Valley's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 6-12. As for West Ranch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Castaic the next time they take the court. West Ranch will head out to face Castaic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Golden Valley will host them at 5:00 p.m. on January 21st.
