Basketball Recap: Battle Creek Takes a Loss

Battle Creek lost against O'Neill back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Braves fell 47-38 to the Eagles.

When it comes to explaining why Battle Creek lost, don't look at Karley Freudenburg. Despite the final result, she posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinnley Wehrle, who earned four points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

O'Neill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bergyn Classen, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Those four steals gave Classen a new career-high. Mariah Kallhoff was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and nine boards.

Battle Creek now has a losing record of 1-2. As for O'Neill, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Battle Creek will head out to challenge Wakefield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for O'Neill, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Elkhorn Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
